Wet and cold reduces field

A slimmed down field of six riders took the flag for the East Grinstead Cycling Club’s second 24 mile hilly time trial of the year yesterday (tuesday 5th July). While Lance Armstrong set about crushing the opposition in the Tour de France, East Grinstead’s Steve Price did the same to the EGCC riders who braved the cold and the rain to compete on the undulating course.

Price finished the loop through Handcross, Lower Beeding, Cowfold, Cuckfield, Balcombe and Staplefield in one hour, two minutes and 45 seconds, over two minutes ahead of Steve Dennis who found himself in the unfamiliar position of second with a time of 1h05m07. Once again Mike Anton demonstrated the progress he has made this year with a strong third, less than a minute behind Dennis on 1h05m53.

Richard Woodward took fourth, with the other two riders completing being Matt Willis and Ben Hardisty.

Full results as follows:

Dennis S 1:05:07

Woodward R 1:10:59
Willis M 1:18:05
