Steve just missed out on first place as the ‘other’ East Grinstead rider, Sean Yates esq, won with a new course record.
This year’s event saw a welcome return to its usual course, after two years of alternative routes caused by road works.
It’s quite a varied and ‘sporting’ course, loosely centred round Partridge Green. The various out and back legs have you out east to the A23, south towards the A27 and finally finishing back along the A24.

There were however a number of puncture casualties, especially amongst the faster riders, which did open up the results a bit. This worked to our advantage, especially as we managed to claim the 1st team prize! 🙂
Steve was the course record holder with 1:51:32 and beat this by over 15 seconds.
However this wasn’t good enough for first as Sean had set his winning time of 1:50:31 some ten minutes before.

Sean and Steve were the two fastest Vets on scratch
Fastest lady was Elspeth Turner of Amphibians 2 Tri club with 2:23:25
Having missed out on Tuesday evening’s 10 PB fest, I had to make do with setting my third PB in a week.
