Steve Elms and John Sharples course record was broken yesterday by Sean
Yates and Richard Prebble. Their winning time of 58:21 was 19 secs quicker
than the time posted by Steve in 2001.
I’d managed to talk Richard W into riding even though he wasn’t familiar
with the course.
It was bright and sunny but the strong NE wind put quite a dampener on the
final leg through Long Furlong and the A24. A technical mishap meant that I
had to ride on the 42 ring for most of the course though Richard was
possibly thankful for this!
Despite these difficulties we managed to do the 25.8 mile course in 1:13:42,
finishing 9th out of 28 teams.
