East Grinstead Cycling Club’s Steve Dennis came second in the East Sussex Championship Association ‘hardriders’ time trial at Heathfield on Sunday the 12th of March.
It was cold but dry with a biting south-easterly wind which made the going tough in places. Fortunately the riders had a tail wind on the main climb.
Dennis, of Furnace Green, Crawley, came 2nd to Mike Coyle of VC Etoile with 38:53 to Coyle’s winning 37:27, Andy Seltzer took a top ten finish in 9th with 42:45. Richard Woodward was 28th on 47:43 while Paul Winkley was 36th on51:19. Returning rider Alan Starsmeare would have done better than his 42nd place had he not gone off course, before rectifying his mistake to finish with a time of 53:41.
