Steve Dennis was the only East Grinstead rider entered on the Southern Counties
Cycling Union 25 mile TT start card this morning. Starting at no 80 out of
a field of 90 riders, he made good use of the warmer conditions (compared
to the earlier starters), and stormed around the Broadbridge Heath – Crawley
– Southwater course in 52mins 23secs – his equal 2nd fastest 25 ever (he
did exactly the same time on the same course in sept 2004).
It seemed like ages before the final 10 riders times were posted to see if
the ride was fast enough for a win. When they were, he was relieved to find
that his main rival, Keith Coffey of the Bec CC was just 16secs short in
52:39.
That notched up open win no 10 for 2006 for a very pleased Mr Dennis.
