Farnborough & Camberley 25

The general concensus was that the trip out to the North Hampshire Bentley course was well worth the effort. The H25/8 course is a fast one and runs along some dual carriageway between Alton and Farnham.

The previous day had seen a lot of rain and wind, so to get a dry day was a blessing and by the end of the afternoon the course was bathed in warm sunshine.

However you can’t have everything and a nagging north easterly was still present and made the SW-NE leg of the course pretty hard work, and an out of the saddle effort was required in a couple of places. Of course this wind also made the NE-SW leg a bit of a flyer ..which was nice.

In 2008 Stef, Ted and I had come out for the very same event and here we were again, though this time it was dry and there was no NE gale. This year Claire joined us for her first Open 25.

Ted was sporting his new Corima disk wheel, Ben his new Mavic 50 deep rims and Stef his very shiny Cervelo. Stef didn’t look out of place as every other bike seemed to be a Cervelo in either red or white.

Stef was also riding with a bad back, so this ride was either going to sort it out or make it worse – or he was getting his excuses in early having recently returned from a month lying on the beach in Thailand !
