That arch enemy of the time trial organiser, “road improvements”, meant a forced course change to tonights Hilly 15. It was decided that the revised route would take the riders on a short cut via Hollow Lane to the A264, rejoining the GS/877 course.
While cutting the corner off the original course by a mile or two, it actually made the ride tougher. The first 4 miles or so were now a series of rises and troughs with little chance for the legs and lungs to recover in between.
Nine riders were present including a rare visit from Paul Harris. Lingfield based junior riders Emily and David Barnes, both rising stars riding at national level were also present. David in particular put in a super ride.
