Evening hilly 13

Ben Houston writes…

The hottest day of the year so far saw 9 men face the timekeeper at Gills Lap, this week for the full circuit turning at Groombridge, as the temporary roadworks of 2 weeks ago had been cleared.

Mark Bashford put in a very quick first half and had caught all 5 of his minute men before Hartfield, however the final hill up to Gills Lap proved to be decisive as always, and Steve Dennis showed that he had recovered from Sundays SCCU 50 with a 33 minute ride. Andy was pleased to gain some time back on Mark in the closing miles, and noted that he had to work on his descending rather than ascending!

Notable rides from Richard dipping under 40 minutes and from Alan MacInnes on his first outing on the Ashdown Forest circuit.
