Richard, Andy, Ted and myself had entered the 10 on the Saturday but on the day Ted didn’t make it.
The start is just outside of East Hoathly and is a straight out and back course on the A22 turning at the Boship roundabout.
It’s certainly not flat and has some sneaky little rises in it, in particular the final stretch to the finish, which gets me every time.
Andy was first off and finished with 24:16. Richard was next and came home with 25:47.
I had hoped for a decent run but finished with 24:08, just 1 second faster than last year. This didn’t bode well for Sunday where I was hoping for a ‘0’.
1st James Dear, InGear Quickvit, 21:26
2nd John Sharples, InGear Quickvit, 21:47
3rd Chris Yates, InGear Quickvit, 21:57
Spookily there were two S Yates’s riding this event. According to his brother Chris, Sean wasn’t very well and was still suffering from an injury sustained whilst playing football. He still did a short 22 though….
The other was Simon Yates of Lewes Wanderers, who on his second ever TT, took 3 minutes off his previous time!
