The Club gathered for its annual ‘bash’ at The Ark, Turners Hill on Saturday 20th January with all the usual ‘Stars and Water Carriers’ in attendance.
After the friendly usual banter and cross toasting during the meal between Messrs Blackmore, Seltzer, Dennis, Winkley and Horrigan – the latter speaking in ‘tongues’ [or was it Italian], it was time to dispose of the Club’s silverware for another year.

Steve Dennis just shaded other fast man Brian Phillips for most wins. Ted Boorman won the Veteran BAR – at 64 he seems to be getting quicker! The ladies prizes went to Ute Woodward [Ladies Evening 10 and Novice Trophy] and Angela Nainby [Ladies BAR]. A special trophy always goes to an unsung hero within the Club and this year the committee unanimously voted to reward Mike Anton for his services to Club photography.
Following the generously supported raffle everyone danced the night away to Robbie D and his excellent disco.
A special thank you to Melvyn Phillips for running the bar, half the proceeds as usual going towards East Grinstead’s Christmas lights.
….. a select handful also attended the East Sussex Cycling Association Lunch at Windmill Hill the next day to see Val Baxendine hand over her Diamond Jubilee Presidency and a talk from veteran time trialist John Woodburn but that’s another story and a hard 40 mile ride away!
