Ride bikes. Have fun. Feel good.

East Sussex CA 2up

Mike Anton writes…

Paul W rode Saturday’s 10 in horrible conditions so the brilliant blue skies
and sun of this event were very much welcome.

Matt and I were the first Grinnie team off at 08:14 and set off down the
Broyle at a good pace. The NW wind wasn’t too bad for the stint up the A22
even though it has some sneakily deceptive drags.

The downhill stretch through Ringmer offered a breather in preparation for
the return back up the Broyle. This final leg of the course is again
deceptive as it does have some downhill sections in an otherwise uphill
slog.

This was Matt’s first event of the year and we survived to finish in 1:07:42
I then had a mad dash back to the car to change and get back down the course
to try and photograph Paul and Rob, who’d started 25 mins behind us.

This was Rob’s first open event and I don’t think it was quite as bad as he
thought it might be. The gritted teeth in the shot just before the line
might suggest otherwise but I don’t think any lasting damage was done!

They finished with an excellent 1:06:25 though were overhauled on the home stretch by the winners, Dave Pollard and Chris Yates of InGear.

1st D Pollard – C Yates InGear 53:46
2nd J Pringle – J Sharples InGear 54:34
3rd M Winton – A Cox Lewes Wanderers 56:42

Fastest mixed team went to Emily Bright and Mike Levett with 1:07:50
