Mr Anton woefully reports…
The finale to the season’s evening time trial calendar was the annual climb of Legs Heath lane near Weir Wood reservoir.
The now almost obligatory dark and dank conditions continued though there was no rain. I do believe what wind there was was actually a tail wind, not that helped me as Mr Blackmore smilingly passed me on the line.
I could plead tired legs from the previous day’s A3crg 50 but Steve also rode that so I have no excuse for my worst ever time on this event.
The final result was very very close with visitors Tony Draper and Marek Siwicki mixing it with the fast boys. Tony claimed 2nd, just 1.2 seconds behind Steve.
Rounding the field out was our only fixed rider John Geal. Not only did he sport a ‘proper’ hill climbing bike, but he was nattily attired in a Alf Hetchins top to match his steed.
1 Steve Dennis 05:34.5 2 Anthony Draper 05:35.7 3 Paul Blackmore 05:37.9 4 Andy Seltzer 05:38.1 5 Marek Siwicki 05:49.1 6 Simon Thomson 06.15.2 7 Steve Shaw 06.19.7 8 Mike Anton 06.38.3 9 Alan MacInnes 07.01.6 10 John Geal 10.11.1
Roll on next year.
