The last evening ten of the season saw a reasonable turnout given the holiday season, and riders were rewarded with warmish but fairly windy conditions.
Numbers #1 and #2 on the start line were tandems. Is that a first for a egcc evening event ?
Pam and John Geal off first on their wonderful 1950s(?) Hetchins tandem, a fine looking machine, complete with original black paint work and gleaming chrome throughout. To complete the look Pam and John wore Hetchins jerseys.
On a much more modern but slightly less glamorous steed, Tim Rice and Jed Kafetz rode together, off at number two, and despite early wobbles while warming up, were the first riders back.
The strong wind put paid to any fast times, but well done to first time rider Ben Crick who posted a very respectable time on his maiden course outing.
