Ride bikes. Have fun. Feel good.

Circuit of Kent sportive ride

To anyone considering riding this event, just do it ! This is a very well organised and enjoyable ride, attracting many riders. Over 300 riders in 2004 and more than 400 in 2005.

This year the event was run by Amherst Rotary club and all proceeds went to Macmillan Cancer Relief and Hospice in the Weald.

On a crisp but sunny autumn morning, club member Ben Hardisty started at the front of the “race” with a group of riders from the Sevenoaks Triathlon club. He completed the 140km (though probably nearer 130km) course in a creditable 4h12m, achieving the gold standard (with a few minutes to spare).

A breakaway group of 2 won the event in 3h26m after just getting under the railway barriers near Yalding, meanwhile the rest of the lead group were forced to wait at least 10 minutes !
