Welcome

Welcome to the East Grinstead Cycling Club website

Based in West Sussex in the UK, the club has been in existence since 1950. Club members enjoy and compete in all elements of cycling, road racing, time trialling, mountain biking, winter training, cycling trips to the continent and of course equally importantly the social side too.

Club members meet every Thursday evening from 9pm onwards in the Open Arms in Station Approach, East Grinstead. A great selection of real ales, craft ciders, wine and soft drinks. Friendly atmosphere and lively conversation.

Club Runs

Saturday club runs are held every saturday morning and are led by an experienced member of the club and aimed at novice or inexperienced riders looking for shorter rides. These rides are usually no more than 30/40 miles, 3 to 4 hours max. This usually involves a tea stop at a cafe. No one gets dropped, it is very sociable and is a great way to discover new routes.

Note riders are expected to bring their own spare inner tubes (or puncture repair kit), pump, helmet etc, but club members will be around to help with any problems during the ride.

On Sunday mornings, more experienced club members meet and ride out on longer rides. These rides generally happen in winter when members are not racing at the weekend, but can be announced at short notice. Keep an eye on the website or twitter for last minute announcements.

Unless otherwise notified the meeting point for club runs is in King St opposite the cinema in East Grinstead at 9am.

Participants must be 12 years of age or over and an adult must accompany riders under 16 unless you have a prior arrangement with a club member who is riding.

Summer Evening Series

Why not join us every Tuesday in the summer for an evening time trial (10 miles) around the back lanes of Horne village. You can ‘come and try it’ for free on your first ride.

We meet in the carpark of Horne Park Golf Club on Croydonbarn Lane for 18:45 or 19:00 start.

Participants must be 12 years of age or over.

Note in mid summer we take advantage of the daylight hours and run three hillier and longer events away from the Horne course – details listed below.
