This week it was our turn to host the Surrey League Handicap road race. Robin and team did a great job of running things, while Mark Bashford donned his East Grinstead kit and single-handedly represented the club “en velo”.
For the majority of the race, two riders did a great job of staying away up front, with a constant 1 minute lead that didn’t seem to be closing, with the rest of the groups gradually being engulfed by the pack. With just over a lap to go, they were eventually caught, and it looked like a definite bunch sprint for the line. However, on the last half lap, Dom Clegg from Paceline RT made an impressive lone brake-away and made it stick all the way to the line.
