Southern Counties CC 10 mile TT G10/57
May 20th
There is not a problem for “ Houston”
Back to G10/57 for some more pain but this time the club had 5 riders, 2 others on Marshalling duties, sunshine and not much wind. Bingo!
I was off late but noticed we had all signed on and wondered if Chris, Ben Houston and Adam had a chance for a team prize.
All my prep/warm up completed successfully and I set off for the start. It was cold and glad I had my warm up jacket on.
I briefly saw Adam and Ben who were finished and both told me how dam cold it was but the latter still managed to produce a great time and for the first time had gone faster than Chris Yates.
On the start line I had a quick chat with Richard who was hoping to catch me up. He was off 3 minutes behind so for that too happen, he would have to be having a great day and me a poor one, we would see.
This week was much better and with 3 miles to go the chap who started 1 minute behind me took me over (glad it wasn’t Richard) but I quickly caught him again and knowing he was close by helped me get under 24 mins.
We all seemed pleased with our times and despite Chris being on a geared bike, which he rode to help prepare for a forthcoming 4 up time trial, he still placed 15. Ben Houston who is getting faster now he is a vet get close to a sub 22.
Richard was close to a sub 24 and Adam who almost broke 24 on the club ten almost got into the top 20
it was a faster day and the winner broke 20 minutes.
