There was quite a lot to be said for staying in bed Saturday morning,
with the usual summer racing conditions of strong winds, cloudy grey
sky and the threat of rain. Whilst it did rain on the way to the
event it was dry again for the start.
My ride started at 7.10am and the hill up to Moorhead roundabout was
made considerably easier by the strong tailwind. Everyone was
commenting on how quick they got to the turn but that could mean only
one thing. I took advantage of a couple of lorries at one point on
the return leg but for the most part it was a real battle.
Still I
was quite pleased to get under 22 minutes.
Ben came in shortly after again struggling on the return leg. Stefano
was making such an effort he got cramp just before the finish but
still recorded a useful time.
For the top guys, Keith Coffey got the better of Christian Yates,
whilst James Dear was the only other person to get under 22.
