A relatively early start time of 7:29am combined with not knowing how much time I would need to get there and sign on meant I up far early than the weekends normally see. 

I’d been told this was a fast course, but only really used to the evening 10s I wasn’t sure how I’d fair with the length of a 25.  The only target I had was to average over 20mph.

The initial chill of the morning soon disappeared after I’d started and the sun came out.  I managed to keep a fairly consistent pace, only challenged by the slight uphills like the approach to Tollgate Hill roundabout at Pease Pottage, but this was more than rewarded on the way back down.

After reaching the final turn at Southwater roundabout I tried to keep my pace up, but when the finish was in sight there was little left and I just held my pace over the line.
