Paul Winkley had a twinkle of hope that if Chris Yates, Ben Crick and his good self all managed to get out of bed we may be one of the faster teams in the Old Ports open, 10 ran on G10/57. We did all get out of bed and managed to get to race on what turned out to be a beautiful day.
The conditions were almost perfect and with a temperature of 13C at 0700, a very light wind from the east and relatively low pressure some good times were possible. James Rix won the event in an impressive time of 20:06 and Chris managed to do a 21 dead and win 2nd vet on standard.
I don’t think we got a team prize as I left before the presentation but with Paul slowly recovering from after his shoulder op, my surprising sub 24 and Chris’s superb 21 I think we represented the club admirably,
If we could get Steve D, Chris Y and Mark B on the same start sheet then we would certainly be in with a shout!
1. James Rix 20:06
Chris Yates 21:00
Ben Crick 23:50
