A good turnout from East Grinstead CC riders meant the club was rewarded with the Vets Team prize at the East Surrey RC Hardriders event with Steve Dennis also grabbing third place overall.
With 90 riders entered and 75 starters, many from local clubs like Redhill, Norwood Paragon, Old Portlians, East Grinstead, Kingston Wheelers and top riders from further afield a good competition was expected.
Roadworks on the A24/A264 meant that a course change was forced upon the organisers, with a detour cutting off the South West corner of the route. However despite the rerouted course being about a quarter of a mile shorter, the rolling nature and surface of the road meant there was no real advantage to be gained.
Another top ride from Wouter Sybrandy ensured his second win in the event, followed by Richard Simmons and Steve Dennis. Up and coming Conall Yates from the In Gear team grabbed a very promising 5th place.
Many thanks to Keith Wilkinson for another superbly organised event.
