Evening hilly 15

A beautifully warm summers evening accompanied by an easterly breeze resulted in a strong turn out on the visit of the East Grinstead evening series to the Lingfield circuit.

This circuit is a cross between a sporting and a hilly course, a 15 mile loop starting and finishing in Dormansland with plenty of undulating pave and a few climbs thrown in for good measure.

15 riders took on the time keeper, with a couple of new faces and the welcome re-appearance of Richard Woodward, back on the road once again sporting a very smart new Wilier bike. Thats two hilly events in a row, so he must be enjoying being back on the bike !

The usual suspects featured with Steve, Mark, Gary and Andy all putting in strong rides. Ben Hardisty was fairly certain he had broken 40 minutes, but the timekeeper was having none of it, not known for handing out “59s”.

The course wasn’t long enough for Steve Shaw who decided on a little detour towards East Grinstead after climbing Sandhawes Hill !
