Sunday’s 25 mile event was organised and run by the club and saw a very strong turn out of ten riders. In almost perfect conditions Ben Instone won again with 52:23, just over a minute faster than second place man Steve Dennis.
Dennis’ time of 53:29 along with Paul Blackmore’s 58:44 and Mike Anton’s 59:31 secured the team award, beating G.S. Stella by over 2 minutes.
Ted Boorman and Paul Winkley rode again with Boorman getting the better of Winkley this time, clocking 1:3:53 to 1:4:20.
New members of the club, Jon Carter and David Law, completed their first ever time trial and finished within 30 secs of each other, posting 1:11:14 and 1:11:48 respectively.
Off number one, Ben Hardisty came home in 1:8:44 with Stef Arcidiacono on 1:2:50 and Andy Seltzer claiming the fourth fastest club time with 1:2:17.
Veteran riders can compete for a separate prize based upon age adjusted time allowances. Ted Boorman claimed third place in the overall Vets weekend competition though still has some way to go to beat septuagenarian Harry Featherstone, the local cycling legend who rides for Eastbourne Rovers.
