EAST GRINSTEAD CARNIVAL 3rd July 2016

EAST GRINSTEAD CARNIVAL 3rd July 2016

Calling all club members, young and old!

We are invited to join the East Grinstead Carnival parade on Sunday 3rd July, and it would be great to see as many EGCC members in their club tops in the parade as possible.
This is a real oppurtunity to promote our club in the town, so please join in!
Meet at 11am in Railway Approach for 12am start.

After the short walk through the town, there is live music and partying in East Court.

More from the Organisers below:

After a break of over twenty years, a very warm welcome back to everybody in this year’s Carnival Parade followed by the East Court live music event.
The Parade will start in Railway Approach at 12:00 noon then proceed to London Road, along the historic High Street, past the McIndoe statue, down College Lane and through to East Court mansion and grounds.
Our very own Olympic hockey gold medalist , Richard Leman, will head the Parade with his medal and 2012 Olympic torch, followed by the Town Mayor, Bob Mainstone, and May Queen, Nicole Noakes.
The Sackville School Samba Band and the Nautical Training Corp Band will provide some suitable carnival atmosphere music.
We are encouraging most people to parade on foot but we have some floats, vintage buses, military vehicles and our Fire Station’s fire engines.
The emphasis is very much on youth participation and will concentrate on our schools, sports clubs, Brownies, Guides, Cubs and Scouts, as well as many of our town voluntary groups and organisations, Portland Vets and the Queen Victoria Hospital.
The Carnival Parade finishes at East Court where there will be the Town Council-run East Court live event which runs from 1:30 – 5:30pm.  The free-entry event will feature Kylie tribute act Rogue Minogue, along with local group Tar Babies, East Grinstead Choir and more from the Sackville School Samba Band.
There will be a pay-bar; food will be available; also cocktails and mocktails with a carnival theme – or you can bring your own picnic to enjoy with the live music.
We would like to thank all of our thirty-six different groups parading today for their support and enthusiasm, and sincerely hope that all public and spectators enjoy contributing to a special family fun day for East Grinstead.
Thank you for supporting your Carnival which we hope will once again become an annual event.
