Ride bikes. Have fun. Feel good.

Crawley CC (Sporting) 14.8

Richard woodward writes…

Saturday mornings weather didn’t bode well for tat afternoons sporting
14.8 mile time trial being run by Crawley CC. By late morning the rain
had stopped and the sun shone and my enthusiasm grew.

At the start I was
pleased to see that I wasn’t the only rider who didn’t want to get their
best carbon fibre dirty, it’s only a shame there isn’t a prize for the
fastest on a bike with mudguards. The roads were wet and gritty but for
me at least it didn’t rain as rediscovered the pain of racing against
the clock.

I managed to catch 3 riders and only got caught by one so I
felt optimistic that I would not have disgraced myself. Shortly before I
finished I saw Mr.D whiz past in the opposite direction no doubt I
thought out for the course record and a big pay out. I was pleased to
see that my time of 41:54 was 30 seconds faster than last years.

Steve
came in with the second fastest time of the day with 32:46, 6 seconds of
the course record time. Peter Tadros from the In Gear Quickvit team
again showed his impressive early season form by smashing the course
record by 40 seconds to win with a time of 32 minutes dead.
