“How does it feel to be beaten by an OAP ?” was the question Ted Boorman was cheekily asking Mike Anton at the finish line. Ted couldn’t help himself after a rare win over Mike, pipping him by 5 secs.
With Steve Dennis marshalling, here was the chance for one of the other big guns to get maximum points in the evening series competition. Paul Blackmore duly took advantage with a solid ride into a breezy Westerly. Mark Bashford, Ted and Mike all came in within a few seconds of each other to grab the remaining places. Ben Hardisty in 5th spot managed a course pb for himself.
Richard Woodward, never one to take the evening rides too seriously, grabbed the remaining overall competition point on offer, followed by wife Ute. Emily McLoughlin (Crawley Tri Club) in her trendy new Astana jersey was next, shading out Robin Johnson from Brighton Mitre by 5 seconds.
